NEW DELHI: A strong intensity earthquake on Friday morning hit South Asia's landlocked central Himalayan country Nepal.

The quake, that had a depth of 10 km, was estimated to measure 5.0 on the Richter scale. The tremors were felt at around 8:21 am.

No loss of life or any damage to property has been reported so far.

In April 2015, a massive quake hit the country killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring another 22,000. The earthquake of magnitudes 7.8 took place at 11:56 Nepal Standard Time.

This earthquake was considered the worst natural disaster that hit Nepal since the 1934 Nepal-Bihar quake.

Another strong intensity earthquake of 5.1 magnitudes struck 111 km northeast of Vietnam's Thang and Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday, an earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Uttarakhand at around 8:50 pm. Tremors were felt in Delhi and other areas across northern India.
